This course is suitable for beginner Chinese learners over 16 years old.
Course Material
Essentials in Communication is intended for elementary Chinese learners to help them develop the basic communication competence in daily-life areas such as personal information, study, work, social interaction, etc.
There are 6 levels, including 60 units and 180 texts. Topics involve personal information, survival communication, daily life, learning and making friends, participation in society, and friendships.
Learning Outcome
The main goal of this course is to cultivate learners' Chinese communicative skills, and help learners to gradually possess basic listening, speaking, and reading abilities.
Essentials in Communication (Level 1).
After completing this course, learners can:
Master Chinese pronunciation, tone and rhythm.
Master 280 vocabulary, 40 grammar and sentence structure, and 300 daily expressions and sentence patterns, such as greeting, asking about name, nationality, work, age, personal hobbies, residence and family, and other basic personal information.
Basic listening, speaking and reading skills.
Essentials in Communication (Level 2).
After completing this course, learners can:
Master 300 Chinese characters, 40 grammar points and sentence structures, 450 common communicative sentences, including talking about weather, directions and places, describing objects, asking for directions, asking for prices, shopping, ordering food, making phone calls, talking about living conditions, asking for help, etc.
Essentials in Communication (Level 3).
After completing this course, learners can:
Talk about the weather, what's happening, personal habits, living conditions, mailing letters or parcels, receiving parcels, changing money, saving and withdrawing money, shopping, seeing a doctor, entertaining, past things and so on.
Essentials in Communication (Level 4).
After completing this course, learners can:
Master 300 vocabulary words, 40 grammar and sentence structures, 450 sentences commonly used in daily communication and classroom activities, and be able to talk about what is happening, college major, campus life, work, travel, future plans, plans to do and other topics.
Essentials in Communication (Level 5).
After completing this course, learners can:
Master 300 words, 40 grammar and sentence patterns, 450 commonly used communicative sentences. Be able to talk about hobbies, invite people. And be able to describe other people's appearance, appointment, guest, time arrangement, sports, making friends, TV programs, messaging, etc.
Essentials in Communication (Level-6).
After completing this course, learners can:
Master 300 words, 40 grammar and sentence patterns, 450 commonly used communicative sentences. Be able to talk about topics related to weather, festivals, hotels, services, finding information, appointments, holidays, health, computers and the Internet.
